Great Content for Democratic Activists

NoKings!

The right to peaceable assembly was fully exercised on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in front of our OCDC office - No Kings Day - and then again on October 18 in Culpeper! Both times we spent two lively hours in community waving signs to share our opinions regarding the abuses of the Trump administration. Thank you to all who joined us for these uplifting events. Click here to view a short video of images of the Orange event -- and check our home page slideshow for even more highlights.

Video: BigMoneyOutVA Presentation

Our guest speaker for the meeting was Nancy Morgan of Bigmoneyoutva.org.  BigMoneyOutVA  is a non-partisan group which champions good governance and transparency in Virginia, while promoting increased public discourse between citizens of the Commonwealth and their legislators. They are dedicated to getting big money out of politics through campaign finance reform so as to increase the legitimacy and integrity of government and to enable our elected officials to better reflect the interests and will of all citizens of the Commonwealth.

You can view her presentation here on YouTube.

Civil Liberties Crossroad: The ICE Factor

Thursday, July 17, 2025 was the 5th anniversary of the passing of Rep. John Lewis. Good Trouble Lives On was a national day of action to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration.

OCDC presented "Civil Liberties Crossroad: The ICE Factor" as a way to educate ourselves on the history of immigration in the country and the details and implications of the funding of a massive expansion of ICE  in the recent Republican reconciliation bill.

Thank you to those who attended the program! And special thanks to our presenters, Denis Kaufman, Ellen Wessel and Sara Ratcliffe.

The video of the program is available to view on our YouTube channel here. The pdf of the slide deck can be found at the bottom of this page.
